Albatussin: Indications

Albatussin is used to relieve congestion, cough, and throat and airway irritation due to colds, flu, or hay fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Albatussin is a decongestant, cough suppressant, and expectorant combination. The decongestant works by constricting blood vessels, reducing swelling in the nasal passages. The expectorant works by loosening mucus and lung secretions in the chest, making coughs more productive. The cough suppressant works in the brain to help decrease the cough reflex….

Albatussin: Side Effects

Severe side effects may include: an allergic reaction – rash, itching, difficulty breathing, at the injection site. If you notice any of these seek medical help immediately: closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives; chest pain, fast, slow or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, mental or mood changes, convulsions, tingling, or numb hands or feet, pain or redness

Most common and less serious side effects that can occur are: headache, nausea, or vomiting. If any of these persist or worsen, call your doctor….

Albatussin: Precaution

Prior to using this medicine inform your doctor if you have any type of allergies. Tell your doctor if you are using other medicine and if you have or ever have had any of the following conditions: severe high blood pressure, heart or blood vessel disease, blood clots, asthma, liver disease, intestinal problems, thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism).

Because Albatussin can cause dizziness, do not drive and use heavy machinery until you are sure you can perform this activity safely.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to use this medicine without your doctor’s advice….
