Bumex: Indications

Bumex/bumetanide injection is indicated for the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic and renal disease, including the nephrotic syndrome.

Almost equal diuretic response occurs after oral and parenteral administration of bumetanide. Therefore, if impaired gastrointestinal absorption is suspected or oral administration is not practical, bumetanide should be given by the intramuscular or intravenous route.

Successful treatment with bumetanide following instances of allergic reactions to furosemide suggests a lack of cross-sensitivity….

Bumex: Side Effects

Like with any medicine, among with its needed effects, Bumex can cause severe side effects such as: an allergic reaction – rash, itching or swelling especially of the face, tongue or throat, severe dizziness, trouble breathing; dry mouth, thirst, nausea, vomiting; feeling weak, drowsy, restless, or light-headed; fast or uneven heartbeat; muscle pain or weakness; easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; or hearing loss. If any of these occur, stop using this drug and seek immediately medical help.

The following are less serious side effects, witch are problematic only if they persist or worsen: mild nausea or stomach pain; headache; dizziness; or mild itching or skin rash….

Bumex: Precaution

Before using this medicine inform your doctor if you are allergic to bumetanide, to other drugs, or if you have any other allergies. Tell your doctor if you are using other medicine and if you have or ever have had any of the following conditions: kidney disease, liver disease, gout, lupus, or diabetes.

Because Bumex can cause dizziness and drowsiness, do not drive and use heavy machinery until you are sure you can perform this activity safely.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to use this medicine without your doctor advice….
