Cefzil: Indications

Cefzil/cefprozil is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the following conditions: upper respiratory tract (pharyngitis/tonsillitis); otitis media; acute sinusitis; secondary bacterial infection of acute bronchitis and acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis; uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections….

Cefzil: Side Effects

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: diarrhea that is watery or bloody; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms
unusual bleeding; seizure (convulsions); pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness; jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; or increased thirst, loss of appetite, swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, urinating less than usual or not at all.

Less serious side effects may include: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, mild diarrhea; stiff or tight muscles; dizziness, feeling restless or hyperactive; unusual or unpleasant taste in your mouth; diaper rash in an infant taking liquid cefprozil; mild itching or skin rash; or vaginal itching or discharge.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing….

Cefzil: Precaution

Before taking Cefzil, tell your healthcare provider if you are allergic to penicillins or other cephalosporin antibiotics (e.g., cephalexin); or if you have any other allergies.

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs (especially penicillins) or if you have: kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis); or a history of intestinal problems, such as colitis. If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Cefzil.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to use this medicine without your doctor advice….
